Bleeding gums are most often an early sign of gingivitis, the reversible first stage of gum disease, caused by plaque building up along the gumline. The good news: caught early, it’s very treatable.
Brushing too hard, starting a new flossing routine, certain medications, pregnancy hormones, or a vitamin deficiency can also cause bleeding. A soft-bristled brush and a gentle technique help.
If bleeding lasts more than a week or two despite good brushing and flossing, see us. Early gum care can stop the problem before it affects the bone that supports your teeth.
New patients welcome, emergencies seen promptly, and PPO insurance accepted.
